Malacca has a variety of interesting museums to visit. Information regarding these museums can be seen below:

Melaka Sultanate Palace is a replica of the Palace of Sultan Mansur Shah who ruled Malacca from 1456 to 1477. The museum officially opened on July 17, 1986. Now, the museum has about 1.350 items in the form of artifacts, prints, photographs and drawings that represent the history and culture of the Malay Sultanate of Malacca and the community residing in Malacca during the period.1-istana_kesultanan_melayu.jpgThree-storey building is divided into eight rooms and three galleries including the Royal band room, arms, art jewelry, gifts, recreation hall, Gdansk draw and Islamic council. The galleries also highlight the battle Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat, traditional costumes and a royal.

Among the exhibits here include prints and photographs of the Sultanate of Malacca, Sultan Mansur Shah Palace model, Malay weapons, Malay traditional wedding clothes, jewelery and brassware.

Stadthuys building built in 1650 is a legacy of the Dutch and used as the official residence of the Dutch Governor and his officers. Building's original color is white but it was later at red paint in order to match the nearby Christ Church.

The building is located in the Lower City now turned into a museum complex that has five separate museum inside.

Declaration of Independence Memorial is located at Lower Town, Malacca and close to the historic landmarks such as City and Replicas A'Famosa Malacca Sultanate Palace. Faced with this memorial is Heroes Square Melaka Megamall. Declaration of Independence Memorial was officially opened on August 31, 1985 by HRH Prince Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj.
Memorial which is housed in a building constructed in 1911 is to remember and commemorate the service and sacrifice of the freedom fighters and liberation from colonial rule. Exhibition />
at this building also includes Age Sultanate of Malacca to Malaya gained independence in 1957. Among the exhibits are documents, photographs, maps, treaties, speeches, newspaper articles and artifacts such as seals, kris related to fight for independence. />

Marine Museum Phase I

Phase I Marine Museum is a replica of the Flor de Lamar ship which was built in early 1990 and was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, on June 13, 1994. Marine Museum is located at Jalan Quayside near the mouth of the Malacca River. Built by the Portuguese ship replica measuring 34 meters high, 36 meters long and 8 meters wide. />

Phase II Marine Museum

Museum Ocean Phase II is located in the old warehouse buildings that have been restored by the Guthrie Public Works Department (PWD) and is located adjacent to a replica ship Flor de la Mar . Ocean Museum of Phase II is a continuation of the establishment of Marine Museum. The museum is equipped with ocean environmental exhibition. lt includes several themes such as ocean exploration, marine life and treasures from the sea. />

Melaka Islamic Museum at Jalan Kota, just a few minutes walk from The Stadthuys. In front of him is the Tourist Police Headquarters Malacca. The museum is located in the three-story building built in 1850 which has recorded the development of Islam in the West and in the Southeast Asian region. The building has been gazetted under the Antiquities Act 1976 antiquities.

At the museum, there are eight main exhibition areas, each with its own theme. Exhibits arranged chronologically to give visitors a brief perspective of Islam in Malacca and how it spread throughout the country. It also shows the relationship of Malacca with other Islamic centers such as China, India, Arab countries and South East Asia. />
Among the exhibits there are here, including Holy Quran size where each letter is as large as four to five inches. Also there is a copy of the Koran in Mandarin as well as the Koran is written by hand and published books on Islam. In one of the exhibition space Islamic artifacts like kris display box engraved with verses from the Koran, coins and weapons inscribed with calligraphy calligraphy and verses from the Koran.

2-islamic_museum.jpg There are also of Dutch porcelain plate decorated with Islamic inscription which tells the story of the Dutch occupation. In another booth, there are paintings of mosques in Melaka including Peringgit Mosque, built in 1720. Also on display here are wood carvings that highlight the subtlety of Islamic calligraphy to give evidence that Islamic craftsmen skills in the past. />
Standing majestically in the museum is a stone inscription written in Arabic were told that Islam is the official religion of the leaders of the Malay peninsula in the 13th century. Floods have found stone two feet at a place 32 miles from Kuala Terengganu in 1902. A further inscription has found in Pasai, Aceh said the tombstone of a Muslim leader, Sultan Malik Al 'Salih who died in 1297. />

Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum
Jalan Tun Tan Cheong Lock, Malacca />
Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum is located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, better known as Millionaire's Row. The museum building was the residence of the family for three generations of a Baba. 4-baba_nyonya_museum.jpg />
old home design shows a combination of eastern and western cultures. It was built in 1896 and has an open courtyard in the middle of the house. The furniture is made from rosewood by Chinese design, the British and Dutch. This house displays how the Baba and Nyonya life in Malacca at the end of the 19th century. />
