Social welfare and community plays an important role in improving the welfare of the community through the services provided and the social development of the professional and strategic sharing of responsibilities. The objective is to create a society with a caring culture and well-equipped in terms of basic needs. This will be done through the development of society through behavioral changes and increased capacity for self-reliance.

Here are the agencies that work to lend moral support, advice and life skills. These include those managed by the government and non-profit organizations ( non-profit organization ), which is operated by volunteers.

The main agencies that play an important role is the Department of Social Welfare.


Community Development Department
Community Development Department, better known among the general public as KEMAS is an extension of the Adult Education Division which was formed in 1961 through a cabinet paper No. 385/25/60 focusing on Illiteracy Eradication program.

By 1977, the movement to eradicate illiteracy has been enhanced with the introduction of the concept of Functional Literacy by UNESCO as one of the efforts to make the eradication of poverty as one of the strategies to develop rural communities.

Vision
Makes a leading organization in the business of attributing poverty in Melaka to provide friendly and responsible.

Mision
Making Poverty Defender Division Melaka as the lead agency of the State Government in the implementation of the zero poverty through planning and coordination of quality and realization of Melaka Maju 2010.

On July 1, 2001, the Department of Women's Affairs has been restructured and renamed as the Department of Women Development (JPW). Department of Women serves as executive machinery Ministry of Women, Family and Family Development (the ministry) and run the program and activities of women's development in line with the vision and mission of the Ministry of Women, Family and Family Development (the ministry).

On March 1, 2002, a branch office of the Department of Women of the Office of Women Affairs had been established in 13 states including Sabah and Sarawak.

Achieving gender equality as a fundamental development of the society towards the formation of a developed country.

Increasing women's participation as contributors to national development.

Objective
Improving the ability of women to better contribute to national development through the provision of support services and programs to build capacity effectively and efficiently.

Strategy Office
  • To provide assistance, including advisory and guidance related to women's issues.
  • To coordinate the program problem and the obstacles to the advancement of women, such as violence, discrimination, social problems and so on.
  • Implement programs to increase the capacity of women in various fields.
  • Establish smart partnership with NGOs through financing women's development program under the Special Assistance Scheme.
  • To coordinate women development programs implemented by government agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Helps to improve women's access to economic resources, particularly financial, science and information technology.
  • To promote services for women provided by the Department of Women.
  • Be the center of local information on services for women provided by government agencies.
  • To coordinate, monitor and evaluate the performance of programs and activities of the Department of Women, including the programs implemented together non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Women Service Center(Rumah Nur)
Women Service Center / Rumah Nur is one of the services provided by the Office of Women Melaka. It is a point of reference, complaint, counseling and advisory services for women and local families. Women Service Center / Home Nur plays an important role in the success of activities and programs closely related to the resolution of issues of social problems of women and families. Women Service Center / Home Nur also organizes women's development programs such as courses / seminars / lectures and up skilling for smart partnerships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to achieve its objectives.

Objective
  • To encourage women to discuss increasing the capacity, confidence, achievement and motivation to achieve the best solution of the problem.
  • To help women realize, understand and recognize their potential and build a positive attitude.
  • To help women know their rights, especially the laws relating to marriage, divorce, abuse and so on.
Function
  • Received numerous complaints from women with regard to social and family.
Women Development Programs
The programs implemented with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) use treasury special assistance provisions such as:

1. Understanding the Law (Civil and Shariah)

  • Program awareness about women's rights

Melaka State Anti Drugs Agency(AADK)
National Anti-Drug Agency as the agency in charge of carrying out tasks & programs related to drug abuse at all levels of society, nation and religion.
Accordingly, the objective AADK is:
  • Prevent someone from re involved with drugs
  • Treat and rehabilitate drug addicts
  • Preventing relapse
  • Combating supply, drug trafficking and drug abuse
There are three main parts in moving the role of AADK :
  • Prevention Division
  • Treatment & Recovery Division
  • Enforcement Division
There are two rehabilitation centers in Malacca for the carrying out of the program of treatment and rehabilitation to drug addicts with modules and activities that have been organized in phases 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Among the Rehabilitation Centre in Negeri Melaka is:

  • Rehabilitation Tiang Dua Centre, Melaka For Young Addict / Underage
Enforcement Division Enforcement Division agency Melaka State in accordance with the provisions of the drug laws to enforce the law as follows:

Peace Associations Melaka Branch
(ALUMNI Association of National Anti Melaka) PEACE or ALUMNI is also known as the Association of Former addicts who have enough on his stage set up in September 2002 at Dataran Shah Alam. Following these events, the Peace throughout the country have set up and deployed as a strategic partner and co-workers who are most familiar with the agency, including the Peace in Malacca.

Alumni Association of National Anti Melaka also serves to help the agency as a partner to other agencies and NGOs. Apart from that it also serves to be a friend to all former addicts recovery and create Help Support group for creating space and opportunities as well as business.

Peace is also responsible for mobilizing activities such as counseling, lectures and program advice to members in addition to welfare assistance to the members of the Peace.

Melaka Stroke Foundation(YAAM)
Melaka Stroke Foundation (YAAM) was officially launched by YAB Datuk Seri Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka on 1 April 2006 at the Dewan Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh.

Mision

1. Improving people's knowledge about stroke Melaka aspects of prevention, rehabilitation and follow-up treatment.
2. Help provide rehabilitation for stroke patients.
3. Help improve self-confidence for stroke patients through seminars and counseling.

Vision

1. Increasing knowledge about stroke 4,000 for 2006 through seminars, exhibitions and other.
2. Getting the involvement of clinics and private hospitals to participate with the Foundation helps stroke patients in an effort to ease the financial burden and psychological.
3. Provides complete data for stroke sufferers in Melaka.
4. Provide a local treatment for people who have strokes in Melaka.

Objective

1. Educating the public about the dangers of stroke.
2. Provides data Melaka stroke patients.
3. Provides equipment for the recovery of stroke sufferers.
4. To provide guidance and counseling to help stroke patients.
5. Implement management programs for health education awareness and problem solving stroke.
6. Helps improve access and make local center stroke.
7. Coordinate and forge smart partnerships with ministries, government agencies and the establishment of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to conduct joint activities.

Activities

1. Increasing public awareness about stroke through programs conducted health seminars to the public more aware and sensitive about the disease.
2. Establishing a network of clinics in collaboration with government and private sector where YAAM has partnered with the District Health Office Alor Gajah, Melaka Tengah, NPFDB and Treatment Centre An-Nur in the success of the stroke program for their expertise and knowledge about the disease.
3. Motivate and increase confidence in stroke patients through programs to share experiences in seminars organized. Former stroke patients who have recovered have recounted their experiences to be shared not only patients but also healthy people as a guide.
4. Provides complete database of patients with stroke in cooperation with each assembly agi get the latest list of patient names. The number of patients throughout the state of Melaka is about 302 patients as of July 2007.
5. Equip facilities stroke patient rehabilitation treatment.

The Ministry of Women and Family(KPWK)
The establishment of the Ministry of Women's Affairs was announced by the Prime Minister on 17 January 2001. The Ministry subsequently been expanded and renamed the Ministry of Women and Family (MWFD) on 15 February 2001. Accordingly, the Department of Women's Affairs (HAWA) and Board Population and family Development (National) was placed under the Ministry. HAWA later restructured and renamed as the Department of Women Development (JPW).

After the Eleventh General Election in March 2004, the functions and responsibilities have expanded MWFD. On March 27, 2004 the Community Development and the Ministry of National Unity and Social Development has been dissolved, and was transferred to MWFD. In accordance with these organizations, MWFD been renamed the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (the ministry).

With the reorganization, the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (the ministry) have a four (4) agencies under the administration of:
  • Department of Women Development (JPW)
  • The Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKMM)
  • Population and Family Development Board (National)
  • Institut Social Malaysia (ISM)
The ministry headed by the Honourable Dato 'Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil as the minister responsible for increasing public awareness of the importance of the role of women and the family institution to achieve the national development agenda. The public also be made aware and guidance in social development, especially social welfare, in order to achieve the goal of creating a caring society and society developed in line with Vision 2020.
