ROLE OF THE ICT SECURITY OFFICER (ICTSO)

1. Ensure that all ICT security infrastructures comply with security principles based on the Government ICT Security Policy Framework, the Public Sector Cyber Security Framework (RAKKSSA), and Government Security Directives;

2. Prepare and review ICT security infrastructure documents for ICT security audit purposes;

3. Identify ICT security areas that require close attention;

4. Ensure ICT security is maintained at all times;

5. Ensure that all personnel understand the standards, guidelines, and security procedures under the Government ICT Security Policy Framework and the Public Sector Cyber Security Framework (RAKKSSA);

6. Conduct risk assessments and ICT security programmes in MCMD;

7. Develop action plans to manage risks arising from non-compliance with ICT security standards, guidelines, and procedures;

8. Report to CSIRT Melaka regarding any ICT security incidents that occur in the Department;

9. Assist in developing standards, guidelines, and procedures for applications, systems, and ICT infrastructure in JKMM to comply with the Government ICT Security Policy or the Public Sector Cyber Security Policy;

10. Establish programmes to enhance knowledge, awareness, and culture on technology, information control mechanisms, ICT asset protection, cyber threats, and the roles and responsibilities of users in managing ICT facilities in MCMD;

11. Disseminate and issue early warnings on potential threats that could cause significant damage to MCMD’s ICT assets; and

12. Manage all ICT security programmes in MCMD.
