On 7 April 2023, the Melaka State Government agreed to the implementation of the Kampung Digital Initiative as a progressive step in modernizing village communities in the state. This initiative was introduced in line with the State Government’s objectives to enhance social, economic, and technological development among village residents.

The Kampung Digital Initiative was implemented to address the issue of the absence of clear and structured home addresses among villagers. This will benefit residents in aspects such as administration, delivery, and other services related to residential addresses. Another advantage of the Kampung Digital Initiative is the availability of statistical data on the actual number of houses in Melaka as well as the accurate boundaries of villages.

Each premise in the village will be assigned a QR Code, which represents their home address. This code can simply be scanned using a smartphone to access information about the house on the Kampung Digital Portal. In addition, information such as the unique premise code number, full address, mukim name, house lot number, house location link, and the previously used address can also be accessed through the QR Code.
